Mechanisation and Innovation

Mechanisation can save time and money. At Van Meer we try to mechanisize as much as we can.

Weighing and registration:
Each employee has tickets with a personal barcode. They leave one of those tickets in every box of strawberries they harvested. The boxes are being weighed and by scanning the barcode the computer will registrate by who and when the box was harvested, and the box it's initial weight. These data are send to a wages administration programm. Doing it this way, the employee will be payed exactly for every harvested (kilo)gram! In addiction the programm can give warnings independently, in example if an employee is frequently wrong in approaching the aim weight of a box

Uprooting:
Uprooting is being done with a basrijs uprootingmachine to be placed behind the tractor. The mower upfront cuts part of the leafs in to bits, the uprooting machine throws (with a shaking blade) the plant (via a conveyor belt) into boxes sized a cubic metre. With this system every hour 10.000 plants can be uprooted.
